Twitter

OK, against all my better instincts I set up a twitter account. I still can't get over the feeling that this particular piece of technology is only feeding all the self-absorbed, voyeuristic and thoughtlessly superficial aspects of our current culture that I abhor. I have heard that twitter has been used to good effect at conferences but that the stream of tweets cannot now be located.

I did look at a few of the Library accounts and see them using their tweets to link to book lists, NPR programs on authors, library programs and local news articles. So, as just another medium to promote the library, it could have value.
